AFE INNOVNET next Webinar on “Age-friendly Tourism”

18 February 2015

Europe is facing a similar demographic trend: 55+ European citizens will represent approximately 30% of the population by 2060. Not only will seniors’ needs and demands influence technologies, products and services that will enable them to pursue an active, healthy and independent life, but they will also reshape the concept of tourism. Indeed, senior tourism is predicted to be a major force in the 21st century[1]. Senior citizens have both purchasing power and leisure time; therefore they represent a significant economic market potential. By reinforcing senior tourism, Senior citizens can contribute to face the challenge of seasonality, stimulating economic growth and jobs in Europe. Moreover, it also contributes to the objectives of the Europe Strategy 2020.

Speakers will be present to share European and local good practices in terms of age-friendly tourism:

  • Oscar Almendros Bonis, European Commission, DG Enterprise and Industry, Directorate Service Industries – Tourism Unit Policy
  • Jovita García Collado - Ambienta 45 : "ActivSeniors"
  • Campania Reference Site (tbc)
