What triggered this initiative?:
The demographic change leads to new challenges for Europe as a society and also to strong pressure for cost optimization and more effective care.
As a result, efficient ways to improve care processes are needed as well as new approaches for empowering people with age related dependencies or disabilities to live independently for longer.
In an optimal society, elderly people will be able to live at their own homes with the possibility to act independently and to actively participate in society. The ALFRED solution will contribute to this goal by providing a personal and interactive assistant for elderly people.
ALFRED will foster independent living and active ageing, integrating interactive services for elderly people and for care-takers.
